Tuesday, August 9, 2016 - 5:00pm We are providing an exciting reading-incentive program, REACH FOR THE STARS!! The goal is to motivate our children to read, keep them reading, and then reward them with books that grab their attention! Your child benefits with reading and with books given to them (50% of their pledges will be given back to them in the books of your choice). Your child’s classroom benefits by having children motivated to read and by free books (each class receives 50% of participant’s pledges). MCDC will be using this money to purchase foreign language books for the classrooms.
Your child will be rewarded with books for participating. Participation in this program involves: * Collecting pledges from friends, neighbors, and relatives supporting their reading activity * Reading (or being read to) over the coming two week period * At the end of the reading period, the pledges will be collected and turned in to the front office We will end the program with an Usborne Book Fair on August 17th and 18th, where your child can pick out a book or books with 50% of the money they raised! Please help your child in this program by reading to your child and by helping them collect their pledges. Your child will have the privilege of choosing new books to take home! Every preschool child has a pledge sheet in their cubby/folder. If anyone in the younger classrooms would like to participate, please see me for a pledge form. Just think, if every child collected just $10, we would have $540.00 to spend on foreign language books for MCDC!! Please turn in your forms and pledge money by Tuesday August 16th.

Friday, June 10, 2016 - 1:30pm In light of the air quality alert, we will not be taking the children outdoors this afternoon. Have a great weekend!
The Alabama Department of Environmental Management issued a code orange air quality alert in Madison County and other areas in Alabama today. This means ground level ozone is expected to reach levels that could be harmful to people with lung diseases including asthma and for children. ADEM recommends adults with asthma reduce heavy or prolonged activity outdoors. Experts say if breathing becomes difficult, move indoors.
