MCDC Families,

With the threat of severe weather on Wednesday, I thought this would be a good time to make sure everyone knows our protocol for severe weather. 

In the event of a tornado warning, we will take the children to our protective areas.  The protective areas with phone numbers are listed below.  Once everyone is in their protective areas, the doors will be locked and no one will be able to enter or exit during a warning.  We will not release your child to you if Madison County is still under a tornado warning, even if the arsenal is not at direct risk.  Please avoid coming to the center during a tornado warning.

We will only close early if Redstone Arsenal or MSFC closes early.  We do not follow the school systems. In the event of a closure, I will send out an email, post to social media, our website and send out a text alert.

We are very excited to get in the Valentine’s Day spirit this month with a Sugar Cookie fundraiser! These sweet treats come with a frosting-and-sprinkles decorating kit, and make for a fun family activity or thoughtful gift for your Valentine! Thanks to the generous sponsorship of Merchants Foodservice, MCDC receives 100% of the profit toward great causes like classroom and playground improvement.

*Sugar cookies do contain wheat, eggs, and dairy and may be processed in a plant that processes nuts.

Please pre-order by closing time on Wednesday, February 9th – quantities are limited! Cookies will be available for pick up on 02/11 and 02/12 in Ms. Kelli’s office.

To pre-order, either a) sign up on the paper sign-up sheet in the MCDC lobby (you can’t miss it!), or b) send an email to Member-at-Large Alexandra Dominguez (alexandra.a.dominguez@gmail.com) – subject “Cookies” – and include the following form with quantities and preferred pick-up day indicated:

Spoiled Rotten Photography will be here this Thursday January 21st to take our class pictures.  We will begin at 9:00am.  Please have your child here by 9am if you would like them to participate in their class picture.  Details will be sent out about ordering at a later date.

Due to the Executive Order issued by President Trump, MCDC will be closed on Thursday December 24th.  I hope you have a wonderful holiday season with your family!

Next week we will have our Usborne Books and More Book Fair in the library on Wednesday and Thursday with Kate Pokemire.  MCDC gets a portion of the sales in free books or cash back.  There are several ways you can purchase books.
