MCDC Parents,

We are holding our Scholastic Book Fair in the library today through next Friday.  With Scholastic Book Fairs, you can either earn free books or Scholastic cash.  Our hope is to earn enough Scholastic cash to purchase items for our classrooms from the Scholastic catalog.  This includes curriculum related materials, furniture and more!

This is the link to shop online:

https://bookfairs.scholastic.com/bookfairs/cptoolkit/homepage.do?method=homepage&url=marshallcdc

We do not need volunteers, so you can skip that part. J

We have the books set up in the library.  You may stop by anytime to browse and shop.  You are also more than welcome to send in money with your child and we will take them shopping.  Just let your child’s teacher know if you bring in spending money!

We have also had the teachers pull a few books that they would like for their classrooms if you wish to purchase those.  You will find those in labeled bins underneath the tables.

RECAP:

I recently learned at a workshop, that reading to children between the ages of 0-2 has more of an impact on brain development than at any other age!!  So if you have ever thought, well my child is too young for books…think again!!  Start connecting those synapses!

Please let me know if you have any questions!  Happy Reading!

MCDC Families,

Below is a link to an amazon wish list for MCDC.  It is divided into different classrooms/areas.

We have a monthly budget for classroom items; however, that doesn’t always cover everything that we need.  In an effort to help us organize our list of items, and be able to communicate those needs to everyone, we have developed an amazon wish list.  We will be purchasing as many items as we can with our classroom budget and holding some fundraisers, but in the meantime, if anyone is looking for a way to give back to the center, this is a great avenue!  Remember when ordering anything from amazon, you can look us up in amazon smile and a percentage of your purchase will go to MCDC.

If you find any of these items elsewhere for cheaper, or have any items you or family members are getting rid of; there is the option to click “buying this gift elsewhere” and it will take that item off of the wish list.

Please let me know if you have any questions and thank you for always supporting our school!

Happy Friday!!  Today is the last day to donate pajamas for our Pajama Drive and today is the last day to order your portraits from Spoiled Rotten Photography!

Thank you so much to everyone who was able to come to our Thanksgiving Lunch yesterday!  We had such a great turnout!

We currently only have 16 completed parent surveys out of our 90+ families.  Please, please (you can’t see me, but I am begging you) take a few minutes to fill out a parent survey, and a caregiver survey on each teacher you have had this year.  These are so important to us to identify the areas where we need to improve and identify the areas where you are satisfied.  The surveys are through Survey Monkey and are very easy and quick to complete.

Have a great weekend!!

  • We are partnering with Scholastic Books for a Pajama Drive! For every pair of pajamas donated, Scholastic Book Clubs will donate a brand-new book to Pajama Program to give to kids who are affected by instability. Pajamas need to be full sets and in any size birth through adult, any season.  Pajamas can be turned in to the large box in the front lobby by November 22nd.

  • If you had your child’s portraits done by Spoiled Rotten Photography, you should have received an email with your proofs.  Orders are due by November 22nd.

  • We need your feedback!  We rely heavily on our annual parent survey to make improvements to our center and praise accomplishments.

We ask that you fill out the surveys below.  One link is for the center, and the other link is for your child’s teachers.  Please fill out one caregiver survey per teacher that your child has had this year.

We would like these to be completed by November 29, 2019.

Thank you so much for your participation!!

Good morning MCDC families!  Just a few reminders:

  • We are partnering with Scholastic Books for a Pajama Drive! • You will find a sign-up sheet in your child’s classroom for next week, the week of Thanksgiving.  We are closed on Thursday November 28th.  Please mark on the sheet any other days that week that your child will be absent next week.  We gather this information to assist us with scheduling our staff.  Please do not feel obligated to keep your child home.  We will be taking up the sheets by Wednesday of this week.

  • We need your feedback!  We rely heavily on our annual parent survey to make improvements to our center and praise accomplishments.

  • Our annual Thanksgiving Lunch will be held on Thursday November 21st  at 11:00am.  MCDC will provide Turkey, Drinks and Paper Products.  We ask families to sign up for side dishes and desserts.  There is a signup sheet available on the front desk right as you walk in.  Please indicate how many ADULTS will be in attendance and what you plan on bringing.  Friends and family are welcome!  Please sign up no later than Tuesday.  OR you can email me by Tuesday.

We do not have the capacity to store any cold items or heat any items that you will be bringing.  Please either bring your items with you when you arrive, or have something to keep them cold or hot.  Please also provide serving utensils.  You may pick up your dishes as soon as the luncheon is over.

The children will be served lunch from the kitchen as they normally are and will be eating in the classrooms.  Please do not go into the classrooms before visiting the cafeteria to fix your plate.  Please first fix your plate and then join your child in their classrooms. You do not need to get any food for your child.  However, we know your child may want a bite of something off of your plate, but please remember to not let any of the other children (that are not yours) eat anything from the cafeteria.  We have several children with severe food allergies.  Creeper parents: as your children are usually asleep during this time, we will have several tables set up in the multi-purpose room for you.  We would still like you to join us for lunch!

Please use the medical center parking lot for overflow parking during this event.  Do not park on the curb or in the grass.  Please let me know if you have any questions!

Good afternoon!  I hope everyone had a great long weekend!

If you signed up for portraits with Spoiled Rotten Photography, you should have received an email from me this afternoon.  If you did not, please let me know.

Don’t forget to sign up out front if you are planning to attend the Thanksgiving Lunch next week on the 21st.  Please list how many adults will be attending and what side item or dessert you will be bringing.  Friends and family are welcome!!

There will be attendance sign-up sheets for the week of Thanksgiving by the sign in/out sheets.  Please indicate what days if any your child will not be in attendance.  This just gives us an idea of how many children will be out so we can staff accordingly.  We are only closed on Thanksgiving Day.  Please do not feel obligated to keep your child out any other days.  We just want to get an idea to help with scheduling.

Have a great short week!!
